When what you need
hasn't been built yet.

Custom software for operations that no longer fit an off the shelf product. Bookings, finance, accounting, administration or whatever your process calls for. We start by understanding how you work today, not how it should work in theory.

Custom software built by the people who also have to run it.

Twenty-eight years building software and websites. Most of what we have done is tourism, and out of that came Briing Experiences, Shorex and Insights, which today run bookings, cruise arrivals and surveys every day. We have also built financial, accounting, operations and internal administration systems.

For the operation that already has its own process, that has spent years patching things together with spreadsheets and WhatsApp, and that every time it asks for a quote gets back an eighty page document and a price that looks nothing like the final one.

We do not quote software we do not understand yet. First we get into your operation, we diagram it and we test whatever nobody has done before. If it turns out you do not need us, we tell you.

Operations with their own process, in tourism or outside it/Teams with systems that can no longer keep up/Finance and administration that live in Excel today

Understand

Almost all the software that ends up in the trash was quoted before anyone understood the operation. Here it starts the other way around.

We take the time to understand your operation

Before we move a single line of code we stand where the work happens. At the counter, on the dock, in the booking office, in accounting and next to whoever solves things by hand today.

  • A walkthrough of the real operation, with the people who run it
  • The inventory of what lives today in spreadsheets, email and WhatsApp
  • The rules nobody wrote down but everybody follows
  • At the end, a diagnosis that is useful even if you do not hire us

A scope that fits on one page

What is in, what is out and what moves to a second phase. Written in the language of your operation, not in the language of a development contract.

  • Numbered modules, with their order and their dependencies
  • What is left out, spelled out by name
  • If the scope changes along the way, it gets renumbered in plain sight
  • Nothing starts until both sides are reading the same thing

We mock up, we diagram and we test before building

Screens get navigated and flows get drawn while the code still does not exist. And whatever nobody has done before gets tested on its own, in a proof of concept, before we commit it to the project.

  • Navigable mockups with your sample data, approved by the people who will use them
  • Process and information diagrams, so the discussion is about the business
  • A proof of concept for the risky part, before it turns into an expensive problem
  • The design system gets built once and reused in everything that follows

Build

Reviewing software that already works is a very different conversation from reviewing promises.

Delivery module by module, not percentage updates

Every module reaches production and stays up. Your team gets in from the first one and speaks up while things can still change.

  • Modules that are usable on their own, in the order we agreed
  • What has been delivered is not switched off until the end of the project, it gets used
  • The changes that come out of using it go into the next module, they do not get forgotten

Twenty-eight years building software, with today's technology

This is not our first system or our first platform. We have spent twenty-eight years making software and web, and we work with current tools and architectures, not with what we knew ten years ago.

  • Twenty-eight years of delivered projects, in tourism and outside it
  • Current stack and tools, chosen so another team can maintain them
  • Our CEO is also a partner at Niche Creative, a digital marketing agency in the region
  • Brand, site, product and operations solved by the same people when that is what you need

If your system can be connected, we connect it

Accounting, payment gateways, channel managers, email, WhatsApp or the equipment already on the floor. We check what each system exposes and we tell you what can be connected before promising it.

  • The integration diagnosis first, the commitment after
  • Integrations with what is already installed, instead of replacing everything
  • Webhooks and our own API, so another system can read and write
  • Importers for the information that arrives in Excel today
  • When a system does not open the door, we say so in time and look for another way

We are Stripe and PayPal partners

Payments are the part of the system where a mistake costs money the same day. We are Stripe and PayPal partners, so the gateway does not get implemented by reading forums: it gets implemented with their partner documentation and with their team on the other side when something gets stuck.

  • Stripe Connect to split one payment across several accounts at the moment of sale
  • PayPal for the traveler who does not want to leave a card on a site they do not know
  • Payments in several currencies, with the exchange rate and the reconciliation matching accounting
  • Refunds, chargebacks and disputes resolved from inside the system itself
  • Partner support when the problem belongs to the gateway and not to you

Keep it

Custom software turns into a problem when only one person knows how it works. That gets solved as we deliver, not at the end.

The code is yours from the first commit

Your repository, your accounts, your keys. No license to pay us so you can keep using what you already paid for, and no lock that forces you to stay.

  • Repository and services in your company name
  • Full access from day one, not at handover
  • No license cost to keep operating

Documented so that someone else can take it over

Every project is delivered with its manual inside and with the decisions on record. If tomorrow you want your own team or another vendor to carry it, they can.

  • A usage manual inside the system itself, screen by screen
  • The architecture decisions written down, with the reason behind each one
  • Guided training for your team, not a recorded video

Support without holding you hostage

After handover, you decide how much you need us. Some projects stay with us for years and some teams are running it on their own before long. Both are good news.

  • A block of hours or monthly support, whichever suits you
  • Response times in writing
  • Anything new comes in as a new module, with the same order

We carry the server, you carry the business

The code is yours, but that does not mean you have to learn how to run it. If you want, we keep the hosting, the backups, the certificates, the monitoring and the updates. You log in, you use it, done.

  • Managed hosting, with daily backups and restores that are tested, not only promised
  • Certificates, domains and email up to date, without an expiry notice landing on your desk
  • Monitoring and alerts: we find out something went down before a client calls you
  • Security and dependency updates, without you having to ask for them
  • One invoice and one person responsible when something fails, instead of three vendors pointing at each other

We are not going to learn on your project

This team built and runs its own products, and has spent twenty-eight years delivering software for others. When we sit you down to review architecture, the people on the other side of the table are people who already got it wrong in their own software and fixed it with their own money.

  • Briing Experiences: booking engine, payments and field operations, with Stripe inside
  • Briing Shorex: cruise arrivals, allotments by cruise line and multiport operations
  • Briing Insights: surveys and reports for hospitality businesses
  • And outside tourism: financial, accounting, operations and internal administration systems
  • All of it in real operation, with real clients, not in a demo

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us before the call

What does Software Studio build?

Custom software for operations that no longer fit an off the shelf product: booking, financial, accounting, operations and internal administration systems, plus integrations and portals, in tourism or outside it.

How is a project quoted?

First we understand the operation, diagram it and test whatever nobody has done before. Only then do we quote. If discovery shows the development is not needed, we say so.

Who owns the code?

The client. The code lives in their repository from day one, along with the documentation and the access.

Tell us what you are solving by hand.

Half an hour on a call. If what you need is already covered by Experiences, Shorex or Insights, we tell you and it costs you less.
